Is it legal for a Dubai employer or agency to charge me a recruitment or visa fee?

No. Under UAE labour law, employers cannot pass recruitment and employment costs on to workers, directly or indirectly. MoHRE advises job seekers not to pay recruitment fees.

How do I check if a UAE job offer is real?

Find the serial number or barcode on the MoHRE-approved offer form and verify it through the MoHRE website, smart app or call centre on 600590000. Also contact the company using details you found independently.

Can I start work in Dubai on a visit visa?

No. MoHRE has warned that working in the UAE on a visit or tourist visa is illegal and can lead to fines and legal consequences.

The company's website and offer letter look professional. Is that enough?

No. Fake recruiters can create convincing websites, LinkedIn profiles, email addresses and employment documents, so you need to verify the offer independently.

Who should I report a job scam to in Dubai?

Report it through the Dubai Police smart app, the eCrime platform, or by calling 901, and tell your bank if you sent money or shared banking details.

Should I send my passport copy before I get a job offer?

Generally not. Share professional details first and provide passport or Emirates ID copies only after you have verified the employer and understand why they are needed.
